In hour one of After Further Review, Matt recaps Coach Ed Orgeron’s final media availability. Coach O updated the status of some key players for the Ole Miss game. Right tackle, Austin Deculus remains questionable, while defensive back Kary Vincent looks like he will be available.
Matt talks an article from Brooks Kubena at the The Advocate detailing the rarity of a turnaround on the level of Ed Orgeron.
“I couldn’t help but think while reading the article about the story of Ed Orgeron,” Matt said. “It’s become the best story in college football this year in my opinion.”
College football analyst Phil Steele joins Matt in his weekly spot to preview the biggest games of Week 12.
Georgia at Auburn
“Georgia is playing really good defense right now. They haven’t allowed a rushing touchdown all season,” Steele said. “I’d also take Georgia’s offensive line. As far as quarterback goes, I’ll take Jake Fromm. Even in Jordan-Hare I think Georgia comes out with the win.”
Minnesota at Iowa
“I think Iowa has the slightly better defense in this matchup. The skill players clearly go Minnesota’s way,” Steele said. “I think Minnesota is the better football team, but coming off their huge effort at home against Penn State, now they have to travel to Kinnick. When I look at Iowa I think they are a team capable of getting Minnesota. I think the situation favors Iowa, but I’m not betting against Minnesota anymore.”
Matt updates the college football coaching carousel, and goes around the SEC.
Celebrity chef and Talk 107.3 host Jay Ducote joins for his weekly tailgate segment. The Tigers head up to Oxford this weekend. Has Jay ever done the full on tailgating experience in The Grove?
“I have. You can’t have an open flame so you can’t cook. You can’t have cars on it,” Ducote said. “I tell everyone it is a completely unique cultural experience that should be on your college football bucket list.”
Ducote brings in Grove themed tailgate cuisine. Finger sandwiches, grapes, some cheese, carrots and more.
“Some tailgates will have upscale hors d’Oeuvres, but it’s all catered in,” Ducote said. “No one is cooking on site.”
