In hour two of After Further Review, Matt discusses if the College Football Playoff rankings really matter. There is debate that Ohio State could jump LSU before the end of the season and go into the playoff as the No. 1 seed. Would it matter? Matt says it absolutely matters where you are seeded in the playoff.
The Saints have opened as a 8.5 point favorite for their game this Sunday vs. Carolina. Matt talks the importance of this game for the NFC South division race.
Orthopaedic surgeon and hip specialist Dr. Kevin Riche joins Matt to talk the injury to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Dr. Riche explains how the injury took place on the play.
“His hip is flexed at 90 degrees and his knee is bent at 90 degrees,” Dr. Riche said. “When someone falls on his back it pushes on his femur up and breaks the posterior wall.”
The surgery today was successful and Tua is said to make a complete recovery. Dr. Riche says it’s not that simple.
“Yes and no. The surgery today would’ve been to clean out any pieces that may be in the joint and repair the wall,” Dr. Riche said. “In that respect he can have a great recovery. What we don’t know is how the cartilage in the joint will do?”
