Shownotes

In hour two of Hangin’ with Hester, Jacob and Ronnie are joined by Bill Bender of the Sporting News to go around the country in college football.

BILL BENDER (:00)

Bill Bender of The Sporting News joins Hangin’ with Hester to talk college football, starting with Tua Tagovailoa’s injury. Jacob and Bill discuss Tua’s future and what he might do. Bender says that he may go to the NFL.

Bender also looks at how the committee will view Oklahoma after their win against Baylor and the Heisman race. Joe Burrow is still the favorite, Bender says. He also takes a look at the next contenders for top quarterback draft picks this year.

Next, Ronnie and Jacob look at possible playoff match-ups and Ronnie remarks on Texas’ disappointing performance this year. Jacob also says that no other team in the country is as battle-tested as LSU, and that the Tigers shouldn’t be thrown down to #3 in the rankings just because they only won by 3 touchdowns and gave up yards.

Jacob highlights standouts in the NFL, including the Ravens, who shut down the Texans on Sunday. Ronnie looks at a key contributor on the Ravens’ squad, Mark Ingram, and how his absence might be impacting the Saints.

KEN TRAHAN (:22)

Crescent City Sports’ Ken Trahan joins the show to talk about the Saints’ win, including the biggest contributors on both sides of the ball. Ronnie asks Trahan if Michael Thomas could be an MVP candidate with his performance so far, and Trahan shares his thoughts.

Also, Trahan talks Tua Tagovailoa and whether or not the Saints could have a shot at landing him after his injury this past weekend. Additionally, LSU would not be nearly the team they are now without Joe Burrow, Trahan said.

Looking ahead to the Tigers’ action later this year, Trahan looks at the offense’s ability to rise to the challenge of an elite defense and stop elite offenses.

Closing out the show, Ask Us quizzes Jacob and Ronnie on various topics.
